Content Halloween! A time for eating chocolate, dressing up in masks, and watching your favorite eerie shows.
Disney shows and rides have been shaping America’s Halloween celebrations and entertainment for many years, from his first film shorts to his agency’s more new movie blockbusters. Walt Disney enjoyed both a good joke and a good fear. There are plenty of options for spooky and foolish entertainment this October 31. From dancing skeletons to desolate spirits to the frightful Headless Horseman of Sleepy Hollow. There is always room for more, as the Haunted Mansion ghost host would say if you had n’t already got these animated classics on your Halloween viewing list.

All Souls ‘ Day is the vigil that follows the Catholic feast of All Saints ‘ Day ( no, it was n’t originally a pagan festival co-opted by Catholics ). Different countries started adding secular or perhaps old pre-Christian traditions to their celebrations over the years, leading to the spooky Halloween trip we have now because of the timing of the harvest season and the holidays ‘ relationship with death.
When talking about Disney Halloween, most Americans today perhaps think of the Haunted Mansion, a typical Disneyland attraction that produced numerous films, rides, and products lines, and Nightmare Before Christmas. I’m going to concentrate on three older Disney Halloween graphics, though I absolutely adore the Haunted Mansion and Nightmare Before Christmas, both of which are social icons. Years before Disneyland, the Disney Channel, Disney+, and Tim Burton, there was Walt Disney, Carl Stalling, and Ub Iwerks ‘ “Skeleton Dance“.
Although its animation is simpler than eventually Walt Disney masterpieces, it also exhibits the attention to humorous detail and an original style of animation that would have always characterized Disney animation. You can see hints of other upcoming Disney projects, such as the howling dog with a head like Pluto and the notion of silly spooks scurrying out of graves ( Haunted Mansion-style ). The little was released in 1929, just the year after Mickey Mouse was invented, as one of Disney’s” Silly Symphonies”, carefully harmonizing figures ‘ activities with audio.

My favorite eerie short,” Lonesome Ghosts,” was posted on December 8, 1937, shortly before Disney’s first full-length animated film ( Snow White ), and it all started with Walt Disney on Facebook. Four weary ghosts, looking for fun, visit up the Ajax Ghost Exterminators — Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and Goofy — and, after the bumbling spirit hunters arrive, perform every type of trick on them. This is a fun watch for the entire family thanks to the ghosts ‘ creative hijinks and the Exterminators ‘ unintentional success driving them away in a surprising ending.
The eight-minute Technicolor little was produced by Walt Disney, directed by Burt Gillett, and animated by Izzy Klein, Ed Love, Milt Kahl, Marvin Woodward, Bob Wickersham, Clyde Geronimi, Dick Huemer, Dick Williams, Art Babbitt and Rex Cox. The vocal cast included]legendary voice talents ] Walt Disney, Clarence Nash, Pinto Colvig and Billy Bletcher … Many children of the 1960s and ‘ 70s became fans of this cartoon  , after it was sold in an edited and silent version as a cartridge for the Fisher-Price Movie Viewer, a small crank-operated toy.
Connected:  , Washington Irving, the American Revolution, and the Headless Horseman of Sleepy Hollow
Lastly, last but most certainly not least, is Disney’s most memorable scare: the Headless Horseman. This strange equestrian was a character in the typical ghost story” The Legend of Weary Hollow” by Irving. He claimed that the knight was the Hessian guy who was beheaded by an American ball at the Battle of White Plains in 1776, combining both history and dream in his story. The “galloping Hessian of the Hollow”, who haunted the very churchyard you can visit today ( I have ), was re-popularized by Walt Disney’s” The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad”.

” Three of the world’s great writers – Walt Disney, Bing Crosby, Basil Rathbone – bring you two of the most fantastic figures always screened”! The 1949 musical video told moviegoers. And 75 decades later, the show’s second third, the tale of Ichabod Crane as described and sung by superstar Bing Crosby, is an classic Halloween favorites.  ,
Ichabod Crane, a vain, ambitious, starving, and religious schoolteacher, makes his way to the old Dutch village of Tarrytown to charm the women and fall in love with Katrina van Tassel, the wealthy and beautiful. Brom Bones, who terrifies Ichabod with a song about the Headless Horseman at a Halloween group, is infuriated by Coquettish Katrina’s flirting with Ichabod. The horrific Horseman pursues and eventually follows Ichabod. The teacher disappears. He fled, or did the Headless Horseman whisk him apart?
There are numerous different eerie Disney toons and live-action pictures to love this month, from Mickey’s 1920s” Haunted House” forward. However, make a moment this year to celebrate Halloween with dancing skeletons, desolate ghosts, and dangerous Headless Horseman, a tradition that has spooked and entertained Americans for about a century!
