On Friday, US intelligence officials warned that international attempts to undermine election integrity may continue after the end of the voting time by claiming that a picture that purports to show voter fraud in Georgia was made and created by” Russian influence celebrities.”
They claimed that the alleged video was a part of” Moscow’s wider effort to raise unfounded concerns about the legitimacy of the US election and fuel divisions among Americans.”
The disputed 20-second picture, which was posted on X Thursday evening, features a person who purports to be a Dominican immigrant discussing plans to put multiple ballots for Vice President Kamala Harris in Georgian regions. The individual poses some allegedly Georgia identification accounts with different names and addresses.
Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger claimed that” The film is obviously bogus” and was probably made by Russian troll “attempting to sow panic and discord on the day of the vote.”
Russia is expected to produce and deliver more content in order to undermine poll trust and foster division among Americans before and after the vote, according to the FBI, the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence.
Darren Linvill, co-director of Clemson University’s Media Forensics Hub, said that the video’s characteristics match those of Storm-1516 ( also known as CopyCop ), a known Russian disinformation group that has produced several fake videos during this election.
No further information was provided, but the authorities did find a second Russian-made picture that purportedly claimed to be a member of the Democrat presidential ticket accepting a bribe from a US entertainer.
Prior to this, the FBI and other federal authorities held Russia accountable for a movie that falsely depicted Pennsylvanian mail-in ballot destruction for Trump.
