According to the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities in an official statement on Friday, Iranian authorities announced that scientists from Egypt and the United States have discovered a traditional burial site with 11 covered interments close to the famous town of Luxor.
The ministry revealed that the burial site, dating to the Middle Kingdom period ( 1938 BC-1630 BC ), was discovered in the South Asasif necropolis, adjacent to the Temple of Hatshepsut on Luxor’s West Bank of the Nile.
According to Mohamed Ismail Khaled, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities in Egypt, the combined Egyptian-American vision excavating the crypt has discovered tombs belonging to men, women, and kids. This suggests that the site was a community burial site during the 12th and first 13th centuries.
He noted that the graves ‘ wooden caskets and cloth napkins had been damaged by traditional flood.
Archaeological digging revealed some well-preserved items in women’s interment sites, including an exquisite jewellery featuring 30 sapphire beads and two circular amethyst beads surrounding a hippopotamus-head necklace, as stated in the statement.
According to Catherine Blakeney, the project’s head British scientist, they uncovered two copper cameras. One picture possessed a lotus-shaped control, whilst the other displayed a peculiar representation of Hathor, the old Egyptian goddess associated with the clouds, women, fertility and love.
This finding was made in response to Egypt’s increased efforts to boost commerce, which is a crucial source of foreign exchange for the fiscally challenged North American nation. Following the political unrest and unrest that resulted from the uprising in 2011, the tourism industry, which is heavily dependent on Egypt’s ancient Ancient history, experienced a continuous decline.
In a tentative opening stage, the Grand Egyptian Museum, a significant development close to the famed Giza Pyramids, opened 12 show halls displaying Ancient artefacts to visitors while it was waiting for its official launch date announcement.
