We often knew it was coming. It’s one of their favorite plays in the Democrats ‘ Presidential Playbook: A cameo appearance on the final” Saturday Night Live” ( SNL ) before Election Day.  ,

You may alter your watch to match it.
And it might have changed the world if SNL was also broadcast in America! The Democrats have the best chance to increase their candidate’s charisma and accomplish a few million citizens without spending a dime. ( All kindness of the legacy advertising. Not a bad deal at all! )
I made the prediction on October 25 that Tim Walz may appear on the SNL spread on November 2 and attempt to resurrect the plot using a bizarre outfit and/or sketch. ( Tim Walz’s running mate struck me as much more natural. )
But I got it wrong: Rather of Walz, the Dems went with Harris.
So what’s the aftermath?
Next to nothing: There’s really no much elasticity between the applicants anymore. At this point, anyone is trying to decide between Trump and Harris. The only real choice is whether or not to cast a ballot altogether. And it’s tough to see how an SNL warm opening would encourage calm, indifferent voters to reach the polls.  ,
There just was n’t enough meat on the SNL bone.
Look, if left-leaning voters were n’t already motivated by Trump being Hitler, abortion getting banned, and the end of democracy and/or America as we know it ( blah-blah-blah ), an SNL cold opening with Maya Rudolph, Kamala Harris, and a few self-effacing lines wo n’t tip the scales in any meaningful way.

But it certainly wo n’t hurt. It’s still good Marketing. It also pays off to broadcast Harris to a crowd of content, enthusiastic New Yorkers and spread it all over the country. Candidates always look wonderful when surrounded by loud, friendly audiences ( and butt-smooching sycophants ).
This play, out of all the works the Democrats had left, always had the most sense. It’s just too much, too soon.  ,
However, with the deterioration of the contemporary public’s control, Kamala’s overall number of views will probably be 10 % of what Trump and Vance received on” The Joe Rogan Experience”. No understatement: It’s a greatly different media culture in 2024.
There’s also the expectation issue: We now know NBC and/or SNL disdains Donald Trump! Viewers only have to become less attentive to identify the real, unadulterated anger NBC holds for Trump, Republicans, and liberal Americans. But, when SNL zings Trump and increases Harris, there’s no element of surprise. It’s also predictable, to paint-by-numbers.
And predictable, paint-by-numbers comedy is n’t funny.
Trump has little to achieve by suing the Democrats and NBC in an FCC problem. What’s done is done. ( And there’ll be plenty of times to file complaints later. ) It would be best to only draw attention to the elitism and dishonesty before moving on.
Besides, SNL is no longer “SNL”. At best, it’s been reduced to a semi-popular radio with a few famous friends, jokes, and plays that often go viral on social media. It stopped being “appointment viewing” a very long time back. Well, its graphics and structure are the same, but it’s a gutted, carved husk of its previous glory.

Between 1987 and 1994, SNL averaged 10 to 13 million visitors per year. Today, it’s about 4.5 million.
However, Trump’s interview with Rogan is then sitting at about 45 million sights— and that’s just on YouTube! Who knows how many thousands more watched it on Spotify, Twitter/X, and all the other press websites!
In business, we often refer to the 80-20 law. This implies that we typically spend 20 % of our time making 80 % of our money while wasting 80 % of our time chasing those final 20 %. It’s a warning: Keep your eye on the whales and do n’t be distracted with minnows!
At this point, SNL is a fish. Trump also snagged the tremendous whale of British media by appearing on Rogan.
Fish also have energy benefit, but when you’re losing every jump state, you’re gonna go house with an empty stomach.
