A man who had been working on the failed Gaza wharf mission, which provided aid to Palestinians who had been impacted by the Israeli-Hamas war earlier this year, was critically injured while serving in the U.S. Army’s announcement on Monday, who died last week, according to the U.S. Army.
According to CNN, 23-year-old Cpl. One of three U.S. military personnel who was hurt in non-combat associated situations while working on the Gaza jetty was Dandan Stanley, who passed away on October 31. The other two company people, according to the outlet, returned to work after the mission’s minor injuries.
Stanley was a member of the 7th Travel Brigade Expeditionary at Virginia’s Joint Base Langley-Eustis, according to a report from CNN. According to the store, the 23-year-old joined the Army in July of 2020 as a machine travel controller. An unidentified security official confirmed Stanley had been clinically retired by the Transportation Brigade Expeditionary in October according to his severe injury, which prevented him from continuing his services in the military, according to CNN.
Capt. Shkeila Milford-Glover, a 3rd Military Sustainment Command director, said,” Stanley was injured while supporting the vision that delivered humanitarian assistance to Gaza in May 2024 and was receiving care in long-term treatment medical centre”.

CNN reported that while it has not yet been revealed how Stanley was injured during the Gaza wharf vision, Stanley’s wound was confirmed in May by Vice Adm. Bradley Cooper, assistant chief of U. S. Central Command. Cooper claimed that a person was “undergoing treatment at an Israeli native hospital” at the time. He suffered injuries while sailing on a fleet.
Stanley received treatment at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas, after returning to the country in June.
Col. John “Eddie” Gray, commander of the 7th Transportation Brigade Expeditionary, reflected on Stanley’s service to the United States, saying, “Sgt Quandarius Stanley was an instrumental and well respected first line leader in the 7th Transportation Brigade Expeditionary ( TBX ), especially during the mission to provide humanitarian assistance to the people of Gaza. In this challenging time, we may continue to support his family. Our entire group is in mourning along with his community.

The outlet reported that the Gaza pier effort, which began in May and ended in July, cost roughly$ 230 million and was plagued with bad weather and various miscalculations.
