At their Barcelona convention this year, VMware unveiled a number of cloud services, including the most recent iteration of the Tanzu DevSecOps system, data engine integrations, and fresh edge appliances.
Broadcom’s news that 50 Virtualization Cloud Service Providers now offer information sovereignty solutions may be of particular interest to Western tech company purchasers.
VMware was purchased by Broadcom in November 2023.
” As we approach the one year anniversary of VMware joining Broadcom, some of the biggest changes appear to be paying off”, wrote Prashanth Shenoy, Broadcom’s CMO and vice president of Marketing, Cloud Platform, Infrastructure, and Solutions, in a press release on Oct. 31. ” We are leaner, more focused, have strong murder, and are delivering against our creativity roadmap”.
VMware Tanzu Platform 10 accessible on Nov. 27
The Tanzu DevSecOps program system’s newest type, VMware Tanzu Platform 10, will be available on Nov. 27, Broadcom announced. Software 10 is the first example of Tanzu to help self-managed, air-gapped environments. It includes tools for relational AI governance and common cloud deployments.
In a press release, Purnima Padmanaban, general manager of Broadcom, Inc.’s VMware Tanzu section, claimed that some consumers ‘ program operations have gradually spread across various Cloud Foundry system bases. Therefore, VMware added a new layer of abstraction to Tanzu Platform 10 to” simplify management, improve security and enable governance” for those customers in particular.

In Tanzu, like other Cloud Foundry applications, generative AI applications will be visible in the new version. These applications can connect to the VMware Private AI Foundation, which provides NVIDIA GPU hosting.
VMware Tanzu Platform 10 also includes:
- Federal Information Processing Standards ( FIPS) libraries are included in VMware Tanzu Spring.
- Configurations for native data services.
- On VMware Tanzu Kubernetes Grid Integrated, Helm-based COTS application support and advanced cluster management for containers.
- A Cloud Foundry-like developer experience on Kubernetes for custom applications.
The new Tanzu Data Services offer benefits to VMware Cloud Foundation.
A new service, VMware Tanzu Data Services, will provide VMware Cloud Foundation customers with self-service access to data engines such as Postgres. VMware’s goal is to reduce wait times and workloads for private cloud managers in various aspects of data services by handling data consumption, management, and support within VMware Cloud Foundation environments.
The data engines supported are Postgres, MySQL, RabbitMQ, and Valkey.
VeloCloud Edge 4100 and 5100 appliances support edge AI
VMware has introduced new tools for AI networking through VeloCloud as AI is becoming increasingly prevalent in enterprise software.
” For the better part of this decade, a focus on the edge has been on the horizon for most businesses. However, recently, the adoption of AI and AI workloads have acted as an accelerant, shifting interest into proof of concepts and more deployments at the edge”, said Zeus Kerravala, founder and principal analyst at ZK Research, in a Broadcom press release. Complexity and performance are two issues that companies must overcome in order to adopt more AI workloads because they need to make sure the right technology is used in the right places.
Broadcom’s new offerings intended to make that complexity easier to navigate include:
- With the new VeloRAIN architecture, new edge AI applications can be identified and prioritized more quickly. Broadcom claims that it will be able to identify encrypted application traffic that was previously unparsable by network optimization techniques.
- The prioritization aspect comes from Dynamic Application-Based Slicing, which sorts users by identity and attributes.
- Improved service quality when using VeloRAIN to network over 5G or satellite.
For better edge workload support, including AI at the edge, the VeloCloud Edge 4100 and 5100 appliances were designed to scale network and security services while requiring fewer devices. Broadcom’s Q1 which began on November 4 will include the new appliances and VeloRAIN architecture.
Broadcom includes generative AI in its security suite.
generative AI is now available for VMware vDefend threat intelligence, according to Broadcom. The vDefend Intelligent Assist can help with threat detection, analysis, and remediation.
Lastly, VMware Avi Load Balancer has been polished to “optimize load balancing for both VCF and Kubernetes environments to improve automation, resilience, and future-proofing operations”, according to the Broadcom press release. On November 5, both will be available in general.
