Before his opening in January, in the wake of his triumph over Vice President Kamala Harris, Biden-Harris administration officials are reportedly looking to wind down the case against President-elect Donald Trump.
According to two people with knowledge of the situation, two people with NBC News reported that the Justice Department’s decision to close the two national situations against Trump was in line with the agency’s policy of a sitting president not to be tried. The Justice Department’s most recent report, according to the outlet, stands in stark contrast to Special Counsel Jack Smith’s subsequent legal actions in relation to the Biden-Harris president’s vote interference case against Trump.
Following the president-elect’s win on Wednesday, private sources told NBC News that Justice Department officers do not think there is still time to pursue the case against Trump. In consequence, the sources said Smith will have to choose how to relax the Trump federal charges in the coming days.

In a statement obtained by NBC News, Steven Chung, a Trump campaign spokeswoman, said,” The American people have re-elected President Trump with an enormous authority to Make America Great Again. Americans now have a clear mandate for putting an end to the use of our justice system, so we can unite our country and work together for the welfare of our land, as President Trump stated in his ancient speech last night.
According to Fox News, Justice Department officials cited a letter from 2000 from the Office of Legal Counsel, which states that an investigation of a sitting president would violate the separation of powers. The letter warns that a sitting president’s investigation would “unduly interfere in a clear or proper feel with the conduct of the Presidency.”
An impeachment moving is the only acceptable way to deal with a President while in company, according to the letter.
