During his campaign for president, Donald Trump made the commitment to make significant changes to higher learning.
Trump’s victory on Tuesday as the 47th president of the United States may mean some campaign promises that may soon be in the works, including banning men from children’s sports and cracking down on DEI and hatred.
” We will do that, and the time has come to reclaim our when excellent educational institutions from the extreme Left,” Trump declared during his campaign.
Trump’s claim that he would abolish the Education Department was perhaps the biggest transformation Trump supported.
” I may shut down the federal Department of Education and we will walk all back to the states, where it belongs, and where they can customize training, and do it with the passion for their children”, Trump said.
He also pledged to address communist discrimination within approval, which usually mandates diversity, equity and inclusion development become embedded as a state of approval.
As part of his” Agenda 47″ plan, his campaign stated that” President Trump has pledged to flame the extreme Left accreditors that have allowed our schools to be dominated by Socialist Maniacs and maniacs.”
According to the program:” He will establish real standards on American colleges and universities, to contain defending the American history and Western culture, protecting free talk, eliminating wasteful administrative positions that drive up costs, removing all DEI bureaucrats, offering options for accelerated and low-cost degrees, providing meaningful job placement and career services, and implementing college entrance and exit exams to show that students are getting their money’s for”.
Trump has also stated that he will not tolerate the pervasive antisemitism that has taken place on campuses over the past year and may use accreditation to promote stronger security for Jewish students.
Trump also cited “equity” as a concept in his plan to target, saying he will direct the Justice Department to prosecute federal civil rights lawsuits against black universities.
” And schools that continue to engage in explicit, unlawful discrimination under the guise of equity will not only have their endowment taxed, but I will advance a measure to have them fined up to the full amount of their endowment,” Trump said.
He also promised protections for women’s sports.
” We will of course keep men out of women’s sports”, Trump said during a campaign stop.
He is also “expected to roll back the Title IX changes and other changes that the Biden administration has put in place,” according to Inside Higher Ed. According to the report, student loan forgiveness is also on the cutting block.
In terms of on-campus protests, Trump praised police intervention and the brutal crackdown on encampments and called some student protesters who took control of a building at Columbia University “raging lunatics and Hamas sympathizers” and “raging lunatics and Hamas sympathizers.”
Additionally, according to Higher Ed Dive,” Trump’s platform calls for more affordable postsecondary alternatives to a four-year degree, rather than focusing on lowering the cost of traditional undergraduate studies.”
Trump also suggested that a free online college be established that is funded by a tax on large, private university endowments, according to the outlet. ” The so-called’ American Academy ‘ would allow students to transfer previous coursework. Trump claimed that the online college would not tolerate “wokeness,” a frequent conservative complaint about traditional colleges.
