The right-wing Israeli government of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu celebrated on Wednesday after Donald Trump won the US presidential vote, citing it as a turning point for Israeli-American relationships.
The outcomes brought comfort to Netanyahu’s alliance, which has often clashed with former President Joe Biden’s management over issues in Gaza and Lebanon. Netanyahu praised Trump, calling his intended returning to the White House “history’s greatest return” and signaling enthusiasm for renewed participation.
In a statement, Netanyahu praised the vote as a “huge triumph” and said,” Your ancient returning to the White House offers a new beginning for America and a powerful recommitment to the great alliance between Israel and America.
Israel has been at the middle of an ever-increasing Middle East war crisis since October 7, 2023, with the US administration offering reluctance to back its allies.
In reply, former US President Donald Trump has positioned himself as Israel’s resolute keeper, expressing necessity for Israel to obtain a swift victory. Trump’s statement that he strongly supports Israel’s goals was echoed by Trump in his advice to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to “win the combat quickly.”
At the Israeli-American Council conference in Washington, DC, Trump sought to improve his graphic as Israel’s “protector”, appealing directly to Israeli citizens. Warning against supporting his political rival, Vice President Kamala Harris, he said,” It’s complete annihilation — that’s what you’re talking about. I’m a strong savior for you. You do n’t have a protector on the other side”.
Trump’s statements showed how distinct his style from the present leadership, as he positioned himself as Israel’s unwavering ally in the midst of the conflict.
However, far-right ministers in Netanyahu’s state likewise echoed the enjoyment over Trump’s success. Federal safety minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, who leads one of two conservative, pro-settler groups in the partnership, reacted with a joyous” Yesssss, God thank Trump”, on social media platform X.
