After Donald Trump was reelected to the Oval Office and Republicans were given control of the Senate, Democrats have begun to wonder what exactly went bad.
Smith, the two-time presidential candidate,  , wrote on social media that “it may come as no great wonder that a Political Party that has abandoned working class people may discover that the working group has abandoned them.”
Harris ‘ concession speech at Howard University on Wednesday offered little reflection for her decline and she rather urged supporters to get hope if there are “dark” times ahead.
” While I concede this vote, I do not recognize the struggle that fueled this plan”, she told sad followers at her alma mater. ” The struggle, the fight for freedom, for chance, for justice, and the respect of all people”.
Trump soundly defeated his opposition by promising to curb illegal immigration, remove inflation, and increase career prospects for the working group through protectionism, which he says may resurrect the manufacturing sector.
While Harris focused on abortion exposure and Trump’s conduct following the 2020 election, she took some strong views on different issues. Trump’s previous assistance for taxpayer-funded transgender clinics for detained illegal immigrants made her more qualified to address “wokeness” problems.
In order to compete in the coming years, the Democrat Party may need to change its procedures. Trump has forcibly forced the Republican Party to do so. In a post-Roe v. Wade earth, the election of 2024 demonstrated that abortion is insufficient to outweigh voter participation for Democrats.
The Washington Examiner spoke with a number of Political strategists about what they must do to regain voter trust.
Exit polls, which revealed that three-fourths of voters said they were in worse shape as a result of inflation, and that Republicans and Democrats had matched those in less than$ 50, 000 for the first time in decades.  ,
” Those figures are telling”, he said. ” I think that Liberals need a little stronger, more populist economic text”.
Bannon foresaw options for his party in the midterm elections and the 2028 presidential election by predicting that Trump’s guaranteed tariffs would hurt those exact working-class voters who backed him. He added that Harris’s election should be decided by the group during the upcoming period rather than by a shortened process.
He believes Democrats may need to change their position on illegal immigration, which is Trump’s main concern, despite the fact that most citizens are more interested in the market.
Tom Cochran, a companion at 720 Methods, said his group needs to build a closer connection with the public.
A group of Americans is upset that the thick school seems out of reach, he said. ” Persons vote on feelings, not information. Geopolitical issues, philosophical questions about politics, or identity politics do n’t appeal with this group. And last evening, demonstrated that this is more than half of the country. My advice would be to” talk less and hear more”
T. J. Rooney, a previous Pennsylvania Democratic Party chair, said he was feeling that detach individually.
” I’m not sure what it will take to win up working-class citizens, but I’m sure it is not to move our party more to the quit”, he said. ” If that’s the way the celebration takes, I will probably find it impossible to detect with”.
One of Trump’s most potent advertising attacked Harris for saying in 2019 that she supported taxpayer-funded gender transition surgeries for unlawful refugees, which was used to portray her as out of contact with most citizens despite the fact that it was highly unlikely for them to physically influence them. The group may therefore seem to take the issue of “hyper-wokeness” off the board in upcoming elections.
Not everyone, however, agrees that the party needs to change its positions in order to win.
Sasha Tirador, a Florida-based Democratic strategist, said the party needs to take a more hard-line stance on what it believes in.
She cited one of Trump’s strengths as being unwilling to back down from his most divisive policies.
” Democrats, unfortunately, continue to show weakness time and time again, election cycle after election cycle”, she said. ” Democrats do n’t understand that a campaign is a knife fight— you do n’t show up unarmed. They do n’t realize that, and it’s sad” . ,
She would have, for example, had the Department of Justice go after Trump over Jan. 6 much earlier in President Joe Biden’s term, saying its failure to do so undercut the Democratic Party’s message.
” You ca n’t tell the American people that this man is a danger to our Democracy, and also sit on your butt for three years and not file charges”, she said.

One of the many Democrats considering 2028 and who she wants to be as the party’s standard-bearer for the upcoming election cycle is Tirador. Her early favorite? Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA ).
” He does n’t back down or soften his message”, she said. ” He doubles down”.
