On Thursday, Trump inquired whether Powell would withdraw as chairman.
” No”, Powell said flatly in response to the question, declining to elaborate further on the matter.
Another reporter inquired after during the news conference whether he believed the president had the power to edict a fire or demotion of him.
” No permitted under the law”, Powell responded.
