A , Golden Police Department , officer was killed and a second critically wounded after they were hit by a suspected drunken drivers while responding to a fall on , Colorado , 58 on Wednesday night.
The two officers, a gentleman and a girl, were investigating a crash near , Washington Avenue , and were outside of their vehicle when they were struck only before , 5 p. m.,  , Golden Police , Chief , Joe Harvey , said late Wednesday evening.
The area of bridge is a twisted bridge, and another official was staged near,  , Colorado State Patrol , authorities said in a media release.
Both officers were trapped and forced under the car after the previous collision, according to CSP leaders.
One commander, a 33-year-old gentleman, died at the scene. The second officer, a female, was taken to the hospital with critical injuries.
The driver was arrested on field for” feared impairment”, state police officers said late Wednesday. The company did not release the vehicle’s name.
Harvey declined to release the officer’s name Wednesday evening, citing the wishes of his family, but held back tears as he described the man as an “amazing people be” who served in the military and flew , Black Hawk , aircraft.
Colorado , 58 is closed in both directions and there is no calculated moment of reopening.
