Unruly passenger attempted to open the jet’s emergency entry just before getting on a Copa Airlines journey from Brazil to Panama, but he was strongly restrained by other passengers.
A picture of the chaos that captured the chaos on X has gone viral. It depicts instances of people acting in self-defense to stop what might have led to a midair disaster.
The aircraft was operating nicely up until about 30 minutes before the man allegedly launched a vinyl knife from his food tray toward the back of the plane.
He then allegedly demanded admittance to the emergency door by holding a flight attendant prisoner. Witness and correspondent Cristiano Carvalho, 51, who recorded sections of the incident, described the conflict. ” A flight attendant started screaming, and another tried to hold him back, but could n’t because he was too strong”, he said.
Carvalho recalls instances where the customer attempted to use the back emergency exit instead of the passenger’s warning. He left the crisis lock behind after being warned. He then began to try to start it, he said, and went ahead. At this point, customers intervened, wrestling the man to the ground in a determined effort to destroy the risk.
The incident apparently occurred early on Tuesday aboard Copa Airlines Flight CM204, which was traveling from Brasilia to Panama City. The plane was boarded upon getting by military officers, who were later captured on surveillance, who held the man in handcuffs and whose face was clearly bleeding from the battle.
Copa Airlines later issued a statement, confirming that after landing in Panama,” The countrywide surveillance group entered the plane and removed the customer, taking him to the criminal government”. The airline applauded the crew’s and people ‘ swift actions, noting that safety standards were immediately put in place to safeguard all on board.
” Thanks to the expertise of the team, the health of the journey and people was protected”, a spokesperson said.
