Lloyd Austin, the US’s secretary of defense, reaffirmed America’s determination to strengthening international security alliances and praised the solid growth of the US-India partnership.
Austin made the remarks following a change of command ceremony held by the US Southern Command in Doral. He cited recent political accomplishments and security initiatives that have boosted US relations with different regions.
Austin remarked that “our relationship with India has significantly expanded from what it was.” He also cited Japan and the Philippines ‘ similar joint work.
Austin praised the accomplishments made by the department of defense during his four-year career, saying,” It was an respect to thank the men and women of this demand for strengthening collaborations and combating stability problems throughout our continent.
Following the festival, Austin expressed his gratitude for the US Southern Command’s shift from General Laura Richardson to Admiral John Holsey in a social media post.
Amid global problems, Austin pointed out the Pentagon’s healthy rely on Europe, the Middle East, and the Indo-Pacific. He confirmed that the US is dedicated to maintaining Indo-Pacific security despite the country’s continuing security aid to Ukraine and help for Israel’s territorial defense.
” We strengthened Nato. We’ve pulled Nato up. We’ve kept 50 countries focused on providing protection aid to Ukraine”, Austin added, noting that the defence ministry has rallied Nato and the Ukraine defense call team, a coalition of over 50 nations, to help Ukraine since Russia’s 2022 invasion.
Austin also emphasized that the US values humanitarian aid work as a top priority in his response to the charitable issues in Gaza. He revealed that he and Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant had a conversation about the issue and thanked him for his assistance. ” Today, when I talked to]Gallant ] for the final time in his position, I emphasized again how important]the humanitarian aid issue ] is and thanked him for what he did to help us move things along”, Austin said.
Austin expressed confidence in the government’s professionalism and endurance as the transition to a new administration approaches. Although he declined to speculate on how a fresh commander-in-chief might impact military businesses, Austin asserted his belief in the country’s military command, saying,” These senior officials will be focused on defending this land and succeeding through cooperation. I have 100 % confidence in them going forward”.
