On Friday, a parked SUV carrying gas pistons and other flammable items exploded on a residential street in New York City, causing damage to properties, other cars, and overhead power lines, according to fire officials. There were unexpectedly no injuries reported at the scene of the blast, according to assistant fire captain George Healy at a press conference held at Queens City.
Doorbell lens footage shows the extraordinary explosion into a flame.
The fire department also shared images and videos of the burned-out shipwreck, which included seriously damaged cars and houses with blown-out panels.
Healy said the explosion happened at around 6: 45 a. m. in the South Ozone Park area of Queens.
He claimed that the car that had been destroyed was being used for construction work and that it had a number of compressed cylinders, one of which had a failure that caused the explosion.
Some lithium-ion capacitors were also being stored in the car, though they were never compromised,.
All told, five houses and five vehicles were damaged, Healy said.
The use of compressed cylinders and lithium-ion chargers should be made known to the general public, he added. Thus, kindly check that any injuries or damage you may incur are kept in a safe, adequately and properly stored manner.
