‘ Claims made in the video]are ] horrible and not in alignment with our beliefs or objective,’ school says
In a now-deleted videos posted to his Instagram accounts, a University of Oregon executive expressed “hope” that Donald Trump backers did “go jump off a f***ing viaduct.”
The University of Oregon believes the statements made in the movie are awful and do not align with our values or objective, according to a spokesperson for The College Fix on Thursday. This person has been taken on operational left.
Copies of the video by Leonard Serrato ( pictured ), assistant director of fraternity and sorority life at the public university, can still be watched on the Old Row account on X and at The Daily Emerald, the university’s student newspaper.
Seydel claimed Serrato requested that he remove the picture, which led to an investigation into the situation.
As a public school, we take our responsibility really by creating an atmosphere that welcomes diversity of thought and respects in line with our educational goals. While we check, we are providing support for involved students and employees, including solutions for mental and emotional health”, she told The Fix.
According to The Daily Emerald, the picture was allegedly ad-free on Serrato’s Instagram account, which had just been deleted late on Thursday night.
In the movie, Serrato expressed his frustration after learning that Trump, a Republican, had won the presidential election.
” My anger has set in”, he said. ” I am a very minor man, and I am very glad of that – like it on myself really”.
” And so I say this in the most rude manner possible. I do n’t care if you are my family, I do n’t care if you’re my friend. … You can actually get f*** yourself if you voted for Donald Trump”.
Serrato urged Americans to “get a better f***ing work” and a better education if they are upset about higher food costs.
” Would something because you’re f***ing terrible, and I hope you get jump off a f***ing bridge”, he said.

In a minute video on Instagram, Serrato encouraged individuals who are upset by the vote, including those of” color” and “LGBTQIA”, to “take care of yourself and know that you have my help”, according to the student newspaper.
Serrato did not respond to The Fix‘s messages or telephone message on Thursday asking about the picture.

Serrato’s notes do appear to be protected talk, according to counsel Aaron Terr of the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression, “even if they greatly offend people.”
The only problem would be if Terr said in a Thursday email that” the college can present it is so destructive to its activities or thus impairs Serrato’s ability to perform his task that this outweighs his strong interest in speaking on matters of public importance.”
According to him,” The First Amendment provides powerful shelter to public people when, like Serrato, they speak in their individual capacity on issues of public concern.”
” Serrato’s speech does n’t constitute a true threat or incitement because he was n’t expressing a serious intent to physically harm anyone, and the speech is n’t likely to immediately result in unlawful activity”, he said.
The president-elect’s brother Donald Trump Jr. even weighed in on Serrato’s movie Thursday on X, calling his remarks “disgusting”.
The University of Oregon’s fraternity and sorority lifer perhaps could not have joined one. This makes sense, in my opinion. It’s ugly, but not surprising, that an employee at a state University would respond this way about MORE THAN HALF of the… tls ://t.co/7soU92mzPa

On Serrato’s private site, he describes himself as a” school professional and academic speech”.
He says he is on a mission” to make healthy, inviting, and hazing free settings in all Greek companies”, and encourages people to have “hard meetings” about hazing on schools.
” As an undergraduate student, I lived through a nightmare situation for any Greek leader, being held responsible for the hazing-related death of a member”, Serrato’s website states. I have vowed to do everything in my power to educate Greek leaders on hazing prevention and proactive leadership since that night.
The UO College Republicans did not respond to emails or social media requests for comment.
