Former South Carolina governor Nikki Haley and past secretary of state Mike Pompeo may not be a part of Donald Trump’s future management, according to the president-elect on Saturday.
” I will not be inviting original Ambassador Nikki Haley, or former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, to meet the Trump Administration, which is now in formation”, Trump posted on his Truth Social account on X.
” I very much enjoyed and appreciated working with them previously, and would like to congratulate them for their services to our state”, he added.
Prior to the opening on January 20, the president-elect announced that neither Nikki Haley, who had previously faced criticism from Trump supporters due to perceived lack of loyalty, nor Mike Pompeo, who had previously faced criticism from Trump supporters, may be invited to join his White House staff in January 2025.
After Democratic voters showed unwavering support for the past 45th government’s second subsequent White House bid, Haley withdrew from the GOP primary contest in March.
Due to her departure, she had firmly criticised Trump whilst fighting and positioned herself as the ultimate GOP member capable of defeating President Biden, the 81-year-old Democratic president, before he ended his re-election plan.
Two weeks prior to the election, Haley softened her past criticism, stating that the future commander in chief did be” clearly the better option” compared to Harris, New York Post reported.
In her opinion piece published in the Wall Street Journal, Nikki Haley wrote,” I do n’t agree with Mr Trump 100 % of the time. However, I almost always agree with him and almost always disagree with Ms. Harris. This is a simple decision because of this.
While Mike Pompeo, who led the CIA during Trump’s presidency, was apparently considered for the defence minister position. In April 2023, he decided against running for president despite first rumors.
Pompeo’s protracted silence during the election campaign’s last days and weeks attracted criticism. Additionally, his fellow Republicans expressed disapproval of his support of the alleged leak of classified documents by special counsel Jack Smith.
Democratic strategist Roger Stone cautioned the president-elect against accepting Pompeo as a case candidate after the latter had formerly been rumored to be considering a presidential bid.
On his web, Stone wrote,” It becomes much more difficult to tell the difference today that Trump is back in control.”
Trump has announced that real estate investor and campaign contribution Steve Witkoff, along with previous Senator Kelly Loeffler, did co-chair the 2025 political opening.
