A strategic relationship agreement with North Korea, which includes a shared defense deal, has been ratified by Russian President Vladimir Putin. Following Putin’s and Kim Jong Un’s conference in Pyongyang in June, the decree was released on Saturday. In the event of an military invasion, both nations are expected to offer military aid to one another under the terms of the treaty, which has now passed through Russia’s political system.
The treaty’s acceptance strengthens the relation between Moscow and Pyongyang, especially since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. According to reports from both North Asian and European intelligence, North Korea has already provided weapons to Russia, with Russian researchers claiming to have discovered evidence of North Vietnamese weaponry at locations targeted by Russian forces.
Around 11, 000 soldiers reportedly were dispatched to the southern Kursk area, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who confirmed studies that North Korean soldiers had been stationed in Russia. Despite Russia’s unwillingness to reveal their presence, these troops reportedly engaged in combat with Ukrainian forces. Similar figures from the North Korean government’s ministry of defense show that about 10,000 North Korean men are currently stationed in Russia, some of whom have deployed to front positions.
The agreement, which was ratified by both houses of the Soviet parliament, commitments that if either nation is attacked, the other will offer all required government and other aid, in line with Article 51 of the United Nations Charter, which permits social self-defence.
As Russian forces advance in crucial areas, especially around the Donetsk area, where they have taken over several villages, the Russian military is now facing increasing challenges. Russian leaders have been in the dark about the possibility of North Korean soldiers joining Russian forces in the ongoing rude.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken confirmed the implementation of North Vietnamese soldiers to Russian soldiers, expressing concern for the growing defense ties between Russia and North Korea. President Zelenskyy has reacted by calling for more air defense systems from Western allies to combat the growing menace.
