Four soldiers from the , Flathead Valley , were among those honored by Gov.  , Greg Gianforte , with the 2024 Montana Governor’s Veteran Commendation on Monday.
” Honoring our veterans with the , Montana , Governor’s Veteran Commendation prize is a small yet significant way to express our deep appreciation for their devotion, service, and dedication to our freedoms”, Gianforte said in a statement.
Among the consumers are Eric Rydom of , Bigfork, who served in the , U. S. Army , from 1980 to 2006,  , Erick Fehlberg , of , Eureka, a , U. S. Army , Vietnam , senior,  , Terri Klepper-Speasl , of , Coram, who was a member of both the , U. S. Army , and the , Wyoming National Guard, and , Luke Opp , of , Kalispell, a , U. S. Marine Corps , senior.
The honorees will become celebrated in 2025 with an award meeting, according to Gianforte’s business. Each will be flown over the Montana State Capitol building in a unique celebratory symbol.
We may recognize 50 veterans with this award as we travel the state next month in recognition of their brave support to our nation and ongoing support for their communities in , Montana, according to Gianforte.
The award recognizes “outstanding , Montana , servicemen” who served , the United States , in dress and made a positive effect on their neighborhood, according to the Governor’s Office.
In 2021, 31 soldiers received this award, followed by 51 in 2022 and 39 in 2023.
Consumers are chosen based off of votes. Requirements include that the sender is a , Montana , native, was honorably discharged from the military service and demonstrates service to the community. Veterans may no select themselves.
