Vivek Ramaswamy Thursday reacted to a list of cost-cutting suggestions posted by Fox News and said anything that does not advance the interests of American citizens will come on the chopping block. The list included $33 million of government expenditure to run ‘Monkey Island’ in South Carolina; $549K to a Russian lab performing experiments on cats’ brains to find out whether cats could still walk on treadmills if a part of their brains is removed; fund for drag shows in Ecuador etc.
” If it does n’t advance the interests of American citizens, we’re putting it on the chopping block. Surprisingly, there are a number of programs whose approval from Congress has *already expired* however$$ $still flows out the door. That needs to stop future season”, Vivek posted.
The DOGE should clearly cut down on unnecessary federal expenditures and axe the bureaucracy. The new office will be led by Vivek and Elon Musk, and construction has already begun.
” It will become, likely,’ The Manhattan Project’ of our day. Republicans have long been dreaming about DOGE’s goals. The Department of Government Efficiency will work with the White House and the Office of Management & Budget to implement large-scale structural reform and establish an innovative model for the task, where Musk was referred to as the Great Elon Musk and Vivek as the American Patriot, to drive this kind of radical change.
” We should n’t let the government spend money on programs that have expired. Yet that’s exactly what happens today: half a *trillion* dollars of taxpayer funds ($ 516 B+ ) goes each year to programs which Congress has allowed to expire. There are 1, 200+ courses that are no more authorized but also get budget. This is completely crackers. By defunding authorities initiatives that Congress never long authorizes, we can and should save hundreds of billions annually. Any legislator who disagrees will be challenged, according to Ramaswamy.
” If we succeed in achieving our goals at DOGE, I expect that a higher % of the world’s smartest &, most ambitious alumni will end up working in the state, for bounded periods of time, instead of just flocking to Silicon Valley &, Wall Street. This will be a great thing”, Ramaswamy said.
