The 22nd Amendment to the U. S. Constitution came on following President Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s precedent-shattering third and fourth term in the Oval Office. Democrats and some Democrats wrote the article, which established the practice of two presidential terms, as a result of concerns about a potential presidential candidate’s lifetime election.

Part 1
No one shall be elected to the presidency more than once, and no one who has served or served as president for more than two times may be elected to the presidency more than once. However, this Post may not apply to any man holding the office of President when it was proposed by the Congress, nor shall it restrict any individual who may be holding the office of President or acting as President for the duration of the word that this Article is in effect.
Part 2
If this article is not ratified by the three-fourths of the various States’ legislatures as a constitutional amendment within seven years of the distribution of the amendment to the States by the Congress, it will cease to be effective.
On Wednesday, President-elect Donald Trump made a joke about the possibility of seeking a second term in office.” ‘ I suspect I wo n’t be running again unless you say”, He’s so good we’ve got to figure something else out,” ‘ Mr. Trump told Republicans, who appeared to take it as a joke”, reported Annie Karni in the New York Times.
Although this was a joke, Trump has n’t been the first to make fun of a third term. There is no evidence that Trump could defame or violate the Constitution in any way. But that did n’t stop Rep. Dan Goldman (D-N. Y. ) from retaliating with a quality stating that Trump may only offer two words to make a fool of himself once more.

We are a nation of rules, no kings.
No man can get elected president more than half, according to the 22nd Amendment.
Any effort by Donald Trump to do so is clearly unlawful, and I call on my colleagues – D or R – to walk by their swear to defend the Constitution. https ://t.co/OqYQ7axuFa
— Rep. Dan Goldman ( @RepDanGoldman ) November 13, 2024
As if the voters did n’t vindicate Trump with a significant victory in the election, Goldman sees himself as some sort of pressure trying to control him.
With Republicans in total control of Congress and some guardrails to rein in him, Mr. Goldman’s resolution provides an early indication of how Democrats might attempt to hold Mr. Trump responsible and defend political institutions, Karni writes.
Great pain, Trump will get 82 when he leaves office after this future name. At that age, I ca n’t imagine him wanting to run again. And for all his grandstanding, Trump does honor the rule of law. A legitimate attempt at a third Trump term does n’t seem likely.
Where else was Goldman when Barack Obama made fun of his need for a second phrase? Obama moaned about wishing he may place a surrogate to serve his second term during a 2020 interview with Stephen Colbert, a conference between two of the world’s most deserving citizens. Snopes transcribed the speech:
I said this before. Would you wish you had a second term, considering what you already know? And I used to say,” You know what? I’d be okay with having a stand-in, a top man, or top woman, and having them put on an earpiece while I was just in my basement sweating through the clutter while they gave the speeches while I sort of delivered the lines while someone else was doing the ceremony and talking and delivering the lines. Because I found the labor amazing. I mean, I write about the… also on my worst days, I found strange out, you know, these great, difficult, challenging issues, especially if you were working with some excellent people, to be properly truly satisfying. However, I do n’t want to wear a tie every day.

Might as well include Obama to that decision, Danny Boy. However, it would be interesting to dispute that Joe Biden had served in the Obama administration for the next time.
This ploy of Goldman’s is little short of dumb political theatre. He thinks he’s being honorable and holding the president-elect guilty, but he’s revealing his true colours: arrogance and snottiness.
