A Houston, Texas resident allegedly attempted to support ISIS and planned a terrorist attack in the United States was detained by the Federal Bureau of Investigation ( FBI ) on Thursday.
According to a press release released on Thursday, FBI Special Agent in Charge Douglas A. Williams Jr. and U.S. Attorney Alamdar S. Hamdani announced Anas Said, 28, had been charged with “attempting to provide material support to the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham ( ISIS), a designated foreign terrorist organization.”
According to the Thursday press transfer, Said was detained on November 8 and is still being held in custody on Thursday evening for a hearing with U.S. Magistrate Judge Peter Bray in Houston.
According to court documents, emails and messages on various Said-linked social media accounts reportedly revealed that the Said supported ISIS and the aggressive assaults carried out in its name, according to a press release. ” Law police executed queries of Said and his home, car and electronic devices.
