According to authorities, a person from Detroit who was found guilty of leading a drug trafficking operation in the Bay City and Saginaw region has been given a 60-year prison sentence.
U.S. Attorney Dawn Ison reported that Ricardo Delgado II, 51, received a sentence on Wednesday in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.
By selling dangerous amounts of fentanyl and cocaine, she said in a statement,” This defendant endangered many people.” He even sought to avert the flow of illegal drugs through crime.
This may serve as a clear signal that our office may relentlessly do those who attempt to infuse our community with illegal substances and violence.
Delgado’s attorney was not quickly available for comment on Thursday.
After a week-long trial in June, a federal judge found Delgado guilty of numerous crimes, including using a communication center to undertake a drug offense, being a felon in possession of a rifle, and having the intention to deliver at least five kilograms of cocaine, and having the intent to deliver at least 400 grams of fentanyl.
If convicted, he faced a required minimum sentence of 55 years and a maximum of life in prison, authorities said.
Government claimed Delgado was in charge of a Saginaw-Bay City drug importation and sale.
According to prosecutors, FBI officials learned from court-authorized wiretaps that Delgado planned to fight against a superior he claimed stole drugs from him.
Investigators thwarted his strategy, arrested Delgado and seized 13 kilograms of cocaine, 2 pounds of fentanyl, 10 weapon, two equipment guns, two handguns as well as more than$ 200, 000 in income from his house.
” Today’s sentencing of Ricardo Delgado, a notorious drug kingpin, marks a crucial step in our ongoing efforts to combat the fentanyl crisis and protect the public from its devastating results,” Cheyvoryea Gibson, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI in Michigan, said in a speech”. The FBI of Michigan is steadfast in its commitment to addressing the two threats to our communities, including drug trafficking and illegal firearms trafficking.
Delgado is the most recent defendant to be found guilty of drug dealing in Michigan’s federal court.
