During a meeting of the APEC financial conference with Chilean President Dina Boluarte, US President Biden, 81, made amusing remarks about space travel.
Biden gave a personal account of his wife’s lighthearted threats to take him to space when he becomes incapable after Bill Nelson was present.
Biden continued his hilarious comment by mocking Nelson’s potential sending him into place, making reference to the current plight of stranded pilots who require returning home.
” Every time my wife thinks I’m getting out of hand, she says,’ I’m going to call]Nelson ] and have him send you to space”, Biden said.
And I’m concerned that he might want to take me into place because some of the people we need to bring back home are there!
Boluarte, who took business in 2022 following her presidency’s detention on crime costs, responded with friendly laugh.
Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams, two explorers who were stranded on the International Space Station in June due to problems with Boeing’s Starliner aircraft, are both involved in the scenario Biden mentioned. Their first planned eight-day objective has extended considerably, with their return then scheduled for February.
SpaceX, under Elon Musk’s leadership, deployed its Crew Dragon capsule in September, which is set to facilitate the astronauts’ return journey following its scheduled February mission.
Biden also praised Peru’s involvement in the US-led Artemis Accords regarding space travel and cited a diplomatic research rocket agreement between the two countries during the conference.
