As the new chairman of the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Government Affairs, Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky ) is on a mission. A big part of that goal is to maintain his desire to understand the history of how the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus came to be and who, if anyone, was concerned.

However, Paul sees his purpose in a far wider sense. Paul wants nothing less than to transform the conversation over government spending, despite being liberal on financial issues and a typical conservative on most other issues.
” I intend to regain our Committee’s rightful position as the monitoring system of the Senate”, Paul wrote in a email sent to his Senate acquaintances on Thursday, shared with Reason.
Paul wants to look into the Secret Service’s widespread failures, which almost cost the new president’s life, in addition to COVID roots. He added that he would” continue to look into the executive branch’s problems and crimes, as well as maintain oversight of every dollar the government spends.”
But it’s the nature of the COVID-19 ebola that has occupied the president’s time and energy for the last two decades. Paul has been able to uncover a bit even without the Chinese Communists ‘ assistance.
” I think we’re on the edge of, truly, the beginning of uncovering what happened with COVID”, Paul told the New York Post.  ,  ,
The most recent discoveries are contained in a new complainant’s report. Marine Corps. Lt. Col. Joseph Murphy, who worked in the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency ( DARPA ) in 2021, discovered that the unclassified grant proposal containing a “blueprint” for creating the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus was “accidentally” filed away as a highly classified document.
Despite being unclassified, the DEFUSE proposal, which has since been cited by scientists as” smoking gun” proof that COVID was created in a Chinese lab, was not included in the final Office of Director of National Intelligence ( ODNI ) report on the virus ‘ origins, which was released in August 2021.
Despite the fact that the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency ( DARPA ) had submitted the proposal to the Intelligence Community ( IC ), where he worked at the time, Murphy was unable to explain why it had been over-classified. It was never used in the ODNI report.
In a letter sent to Intelligence Community Inspector General Thomas Monheim on Thursday, Sen. Roger Marshall (R-Kan. ) called for a thorough investigation into whether” the DEFUSE records were hampered, misdirected, or if advisors or staff downplayed the significance of the proposal.

The history becomes murkier the further we travel down the rabbit hole of COVID causes.  ,
Paul has always been a “budget bird” and is now promising to try to shift the debate over national spending before the debt issue overwhelms us. He is perhaps the only real funds bird in the Senate.
In a letter to his coworkers, he wrote,” I am gravely concerned about the fiscal health of our country and the rising federal debt.” ” Adding to that loan is reckless. We ca n’t anticipate the unexpected when we accept new programs and budget proposals. Additionally, we must make sure that every dollar spent by the government is properly and appropriately spent.
The governor of South Dakota is Paul’s primary task. Kristi Noem as Homeland Security Secretary.
Paul will remain his significant investigation into the causes of the pandemic, but keeping up the claims in Thursday’s text will demand that Paul also keep a critical eye on the incoming Trump presidency. Noem’s confirmation hearing, where Paul and other Democratic senators if hit her on everything from repealing the Transportation Security Administration to President-elect Donald Trump’s pledge to forgive Ross Ulbricht, will give us an early indicator of how really he takes the new monitoring function.

From there, Paul wants to restore some kind of constitutional balance so that Congress, once preeminent among the three branches of government, steps up and assumes a greater role in government.

” This Committee’s mission of oversight and investigations is critical to Congress reasserting itself”, Paul wrote. Congress must reaffirm its constitutional authority in order to protect the health of our republic.
A tall order, that. But if anyone can come close to achieving his goals, it’s the Kentucky senator.
