After almost four and a half times as editor-in-chief, Helmuth resigned on Thursday.
“I’m going to take some time to think about what comes next ( and go birdwatching ), ” Helmuth wrote.
Before announcing her withdrawal, Helmuth tried to return on her feedback and distinguish them from her release.

“ I respect and value people across the political spectrum, ” Helmuth wrote. “These messages, which I have deleted, do not reveal my views; They were mistaken for horror and dread over the election results. ”
Scientific American endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for senator this election cycle, marking the next day the publication has done so in its 179-year history.

Kimberly Lau, the magazine’s leader, claimed Helmuth made the decision to step down.
