After being exposed on social media, a member of the Massachusetts school committee apologized for saying she hopes Trump supporters” choke on a piece of ( expletive ) covered in broken glass.”
Sarah Murray’s departure was “tendered and accepted” on Saturday, according to the Millbury School Committee, who was in charge of her departure at the time of her popular blog.
” In the weeks following the 2024 presidential election, private comments were made by a member of the Committee. These articles do not necessarily reflect the Committee’s or the School District’s sights, the commission said in a statement released on Tuesday that the Herald received.
The Millbury School Committee adheres to the standards set by the District’s authority and itself, adding,” The Millbury School Committee is committed to representing all participants in the Millbury society.”
Millbury, a central Massachusetts town of roughly 14, 000 residents, slightly favored Donald Trump over Kamala Harris,  , 49.5 % to 48.5 %, in the presidential election.
Murray expressed her sorrow at the selection of Trump for the 47th leader on social media.
” Thank goodness we have a piece of ( expletive ) covered in broken glass instead of a well qualified, intelligent, capable woman”, she wrote. “( Expletive ) you, Trump supporters. I hope you find it to be choking.
Murray quoted an excerpt from comedian and author David Sedaris ‘ 2008 column,” Undecided,” in a comment above a post shared by New Yorker Cartoons.
” The aircraft operator comes down the aisle with her food vehicle and, finally, gardens it beside my desk.’ You I desire you in the meat?’ she asks.’ Or would you prefer the platter of ( expletive ) with bits of broken glass in it?’ To remain undecided in this vote, take a moment and ask how the meat is prepared.
The far-right Composites of TikTok posted about , Murray’s comments , on X next Friday, stating” This is the man who dictates plans at your child’s school”.
District leaders have since made Millbury Woolies, the X serve for Millbury Memorial Junior/Senior High School, personal, with “only approved fans” able to see the user’s content. About 1, 650 kids attended the city’s public schools last month, according to state figures.
Murray, in a one-sentence notice to committee chairwoman Jennifer Nietupski and Superintendent Greg Myers, did n’t explain the reason for her departure.
She stated in her notice that she” submits my proper withdrawal from the Millbury School Committee” with “great grief.”

In August of this year, Murray was chosen to lead the council.
