A Florida woman has been detained and charged with a felony after reportedly using her mother’s personality to get money for hurricane relief. While receiving the help, she allegedly attempted to mislead federal employees by denying that her younger appearance was due to “botox treatments.”
Beatrice Torres, 44, is accused of submitting a fake software for crisis support, according to the Bradenton Police Department. She reportedly used her mother’s title, driver’s license, and Social Security number on the program, as reported by the New York Post.
According to the program, Torres was forced to leave her house as a result of the hurricane Helene and Milton. She received a check for$ 7, 967, according to police.
When Torres arrived to pick up the$ 7, 967 check, a city employee noticed an age difference and reported it to the authorities on November 14. Torres, according to the authorities, attributed her “botox solutions” to the gap.
The following morning, Bradenton police questioned Torres again for questioning. Finally, she was arrested and charged with one count of processing a fake public support say, a third-degree criminal. She was later released on a$ 2, 500 bond.
