Muhammad Yunus, interim chief executive of Bangladesh, dismissed reports of more Hindu attacks in his country on Sunday, claiming that violence against minority had “only in some cases” and that most complaints were” completely overblown.”
His notes came amid continuing protests by Hindus in Bangladesh over assaults on their society, shrines, and deities. Yunus attempted to deflect blame from his government in a televised target, blaming social motivations behind the crime.
” The main reason for the few incidents of violence that occurred was political”, he said. By using a spiritual narrative to frame these problems, Yunus claimed that there was an attempt to destabilize Bangladesh. ” With the assistance of all of you, we have securely handled this situation”, he said.
Yunus added that his administration is conducting an in-depth investigation into all suspected Hindu-related problems.
