After a major error in the 2024 election, renowned researcher Ann Selzer announced this month that she would be leaving her position with the Des Moines Register’s classic Iowa Poll. After the release of results showing Kamala Harris leading by three factors in Iowa, the study’s status took a big hit.

Democrats were boosted by the studies ‘ last-minute wave of enthusiasm, which gave them hope that Harris would win the election. Many on the right, including PJ Media, dismissed the poll as bogus, while many in the media attributed it to Selzer’s ( or was ) best businessman status. It compared favorably to surveys from other pollsters, which showed Donald Trump easily ahead, and to Selzer’s earlier polls, which showed Trump leading by double digits.  ,
” Virtually the first remark I saw on Twitter after her Harris + 3 ballot was one saying it was time for her to retire”, Mark Mitchell, Rasmussen Reports ‘ head researcher, told me when I asked him about Selzer’s pension. ” The only question then is, did she really get a river house”?
One of the most reliable polls for the 2024 vote was Rasmussen Reports.
Still, it did n’t stop Kamala’s supporters from believing that she was going to win Iowa and then win the election in a landslide. In the end, Trump won every battle position and won Iowa by thirteen items.  ,
The Iowa Poll may “evolve as we find new ways to effectively capture public mood and the signal of Iowans on state and national issues,” according to Kristin Roberts, chief information officer for Gannett Media, the Des Moines Register’s family business.

” Our goal is to provide trusted reports and information to our users and the public”, Roberts continued. When we released the results of the most recent Des Moines Register Iowa Poll, which did not accurately reflect the findings of the national election, we made a claim.
Selzer claimed in an opinion piece for the Des Moines Register that Selzer’s retirement was made a long time prior to the fatal ballot.
She wrote,” I advised the Register over a year ago that I would not renew my 2024 deal as I transitioned to other endeavors and opportunities,” according to the letter.
I’m not totally sure I believe that, but it certainly is convenient schedule.  ,
Would it have been nice if a last surveys had been in line with the effects of Election Day? Of program. It’s ironic that it’s just the opposite”, Selzer continued. I’m proud of my election-related function for the Register, the Detroit Free Press, the Indianapolis Star, Bloomberg News, and other public and private organizations. They liked my job and were excellent clients.

Trump, however, thinks this was n’t a simple mistake. Responding to the announcement of Selzer’s retirement, he is now calling for an investigation.

In a post on Truth Social, he wrote,” A utterly false ballot that caused great distrust and doubt at a really important time.” She was “absolutely aware of what she was doing.” Despite potential election rigging by Ann Selzer and the now discredited “paper” for which she works, I thank the GREAT PEOPLE OF IOWA for giving me such a record-breaking vote. ” A full investigation is necessary”!
In a post-election interview with PJ Media, Mark Mitchell claimed that Harris + 3 was” communicated early to Democrat circles,” that the poll gave them “absolutely needed hope,” and that they were also given a gold standard pollster who gave them the exact amount of support.”
He also suggested that Selzer’s move was an attempt to help Democrats maintain morale, even if it compromised her credibility. She destroyed her credibility to stop Trump, and she was a truly excellent pollster, so what was funny about that?
