For a program that addresses social justice and” critical brightness in education,” OU’s education program is in trouble.
The University of Oklahoma’s social justice and prejudice program may offend state law for education disciplines.
According to the Daily Caller, OU requires undergraduates who are studying to get a program that depicts white people as complicit in organisational racism and instructs them to treat minority students differently.
Last month, but, Republican Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt signed an administrative order , stating that institutions cannot “mandate…any knowledge” that “grants choice based on one woman’s particular race, color, gender, race or national nature over another’s”.
Another condition law forbids “anything that implies any kind of racial or gender stereotyping.”
According to the course for the school’s” Schools and National Culture” training, students are required to learn” Book of Essential Race Theory in Education”. According to the author,” white folks simply seek racial justice where there is something in it for them.”
Kids even read” Critical Race Theory and the Whiteness of Teacher Education“, an academic report that says” structures…such as teacher tests, promote Whiteness and White interests”. Further, the school requires individuals to develop a” social justice education” to help them plan to design educational supplies for their own schools.
” ]P ] ublic education” and “mandated testing” leave “little room to create and engage with transformative work”, the syllabus states.
” However, it is not impossible to connect state-mandated material specifications with much-needed meetings and programs concentrating on the requirements, histories, and realities of marginalized and minoritized populations”, it states.
Weekly matters for the program include” Important Whiteness in Education”,” Critical Race Theory in Education”,” Microaggressions in Educational Spaces”, and “LGBTQ+ Youth in Schools”, among people.
” Our universities need to be preparing students for the workforce, not indoctrinating them with liberal ideology”, a spokesperson for the governor’s office told the Daily Caller.
” It’s insane that this is a required course. The spokesperson said it’s time to take a look at the accreditation bodies that are encouraging courses like this and reintroduce common sense in the classroom.
The university has previously been accused of promoting racism. A federal lawsuit accused OU of awarding financial aid in part because of race earlier this year, The College Fix reported. Additionally, the university offers a number of racial-based programs, according to the lawsuit.
Additionally, The College Fix analyzed the political affiliations of OU professors in 13 humanities departments. In six of those departments, The Fix discovered no Republican professors.
