Jose Antonio Ibarra, the immigrant who allegedly killed medical student Laken Riley, received a taxpayer-funded resort stay in New York City and a trip to Atlanta, Georgia, in September 2023, according to a witness in a criminal court test on Monday.

At his test, Rosbeli Flores Bello, a former roommate of Ibarra, claimed that she spent the night at the classic Roosevelt Hotel in Midtown Manhattan after it was converted into a temporary immigrant use center.

Flores Bello claimed that she and others “required a charitable journey to come to Atlanta.”

She had gone to Athens, Georgia, to get work that Ibarra’s sibling Diego had promised her.

In September 2023, Ibarra apparently boarded a taxpayer-funded trip to Atlanta from John F. Kennedy International Airport.

On February 22, Ibarra supposedly hunted down and killed Riley in Athens less than six months later.

When Riley attempted to fight him off in a physical assault, lawyers claimed Riley “fought for her career” for 18 hours. He reportedly slammed her head against a stone and asphyxiated her during that time. Through digital forensics on her mobile and watch, which monitored her heart rate, which reached a maximum of 170 beats per minute and abruptly dropped to zero, the prosecution discovered the precise timing of her battle with Ibarra and her dying.

Ibarra’s identity as she discarded a suit in a trash, which she had frequently seen him wearing, was the subject of a question from Flores Bello. Prosecutors claimed that Riley’s blood was on the jacket, and she agreed with them that it seemed” strange” that he would throw the jacket out in February.

On Monday, an FBI representative testified that Ibarra was near to Riley’s phone at the time of the murder.

Police Cpl. at the University of Georgia Rafael Sayan noticed the accused killer’s arms and wrists being repeatedly cut while questioning the Ibarra sons.

Ibarra and his wife Layling Franco constantly pressed him,” What happened with the girl?,” in a saving of a court phone conversation.

Ibarra’s defense lawyers are saying the evidence was” contextual” and that the evidence linking Ibarra to the murder “is lacking”. He has been charged with murder, aggravated assault, battery, theft, and concealing the death of another. Additionally, he was accused of a criminal allegedly interfering with a 911 call.

Torres Bello is facing her individual legal issues with Ibarra’s younger brother, Argenis Ibarra. Both people are accused of having fake U.S. Permanent Resident tickets and fake U.S. Social Security cards.
