Earlier this year, US Vice President Kamala Harris ‘ campaign reportedly gave organizations with media personalities significant sums of money.
According to federal election commission ( FEC ) documents, initially reported by the Washington Free Beacon, Harris ‘ campaign transferred two$ 250, 000 donations to Rev Al Sharpton’s non-profit organisation in September and October.
On October 20, Harris and the MSNBC broadcaster had a friendly conversation about her desired reputation in the coming years.
A significant New York Times article revealed that Sharpton was n’t the only media figure whose organization received campaign funds prior to an interview.
FEC data, as reported by the Times, show the battle transferred$ 50, 000 to Nu Vision Media on September 9.
Nu Vision Media, operated by columnist Roland Martin, facilitated a thirty-minute meeting with Harris on his streaming platform in October.
Martin, formerly associated with CNN, informed the Times the pay was for commercial purposes.
” It should have been a hell of a lot more”, he said, according to the document. ” More should have been spent on Black-owned media”.
According to The Free Beacon, Harris ‘ plan gave$ 5.4 million to Black and Latino advocacy organizations to help these voting groups in her partnership.
These discoveries about spending$ 1.5 billion on Harris ‘ brief presidential campaign are coming as a result of increased attention.
According to the investigation conducted by The Times, pre-election rallies with famous people raised more than$ 10 million. Whilst performers were n’t compensated, support personnel received payment.
Following Winfrey’s town hall meeting with Harris and the day of their mutual Philadelphia march, FEC records indicate two$ 500, 000 payments were made to Oprah Winfrey’s Harpo Productions on October 15.
The total cost of the Winfrey event amounted to$ 2.5 million, according to Harris ‘ associates, according to the Times. Harpo Productions ‘ representative confirmed to Variety that the campaign funds were “production fees,” as a representative claimed.
