A Las Vegas gentleman, Brandon Durham, was shot and killed by police in his own house after calling 911 to report a possible home invasion.
The event occurred shortly on November 12, when Durham, 43, was apparently struggling with an attacker, later identified as 31-year-old Alejandra Boudreaux, over a weapon. Durham and Boudreaux are seen in bodycam footage arguing, with Boudreaux wearing a dark sweater and Durham shirtless.
Many 911 calls about a killing on Wine River Drive were made by Las Vegas Metropolitan Police on November 12. Durham, who was at home with his 15-year-old child, told the operator that someone had broken into his home and was shooting at him, according to associate deputy Dori Koren.
When Officer Alexander Bookman and two other soldiers arrived, they heard loud noises and cries from inside Durham’s house and saw damaged vehicles and skylights. Durham and Boudreaux were found struggling over a blade in a room doorway after Bookman forcedly entered the front entrance. Durham’s girl was no present during the battle.
Bookman ordered them to lose the weapon and fired his weapon, dramatic Durham, causing him to fall to the floor. The agent finally discharged five more shells, fatally shooting Durham.
Durham’s home is presently demanding answers. His daughter, Isabella, spoke out in a press conference, saying,” He called the police for health, and instead, he was cruelly murdered”. Durham’s mother even expressed pain, asking,” Somebody needs to explain to me why my child is not here with us today”.
While the Las Vegas Metro Police Department looks into whether Officer Bookman’s use of power was justified, he has been given paid administrative leave. According to Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson, the investigation was last 30 to 90 days.
Authorities are raising fears about the officer’s activities. Previous NYPD detective and adjunct professor at John Jay College of Criminal Justice Felipe Rodriguez argued that police officers may be able to support their use of force, especially when many shots are fired after a suspect is unconscious.
However, Boudreaux has been arrested and faces several charges, including home war with a dangerous weapon, abuse with a deadly weapon, and child abuse.
According to police reports, Durham and Boudreaux had a physical relationship and were close friends. During the house war, Bonneaux allegedly confessed to police that she intended to murder her. Since then, she has since turned down two judge appearances.
