In a reported “honor killing” try outside a great university in Lacey, Washington, two families are facing criminal charges after fiercely choking their own child last quarter.
Ihsan and Zahraa Ali were detained on October 18 outside Timberline High School in Lacey, Washington, according to court documents obtained by KOMO News after the 17-year-old pupil claimed her parents had threatened to kill her as an “honor killing” because of her refusal to attend an arranged relationship to an older person.
Court records from Fox 13 reveal that the unidentified child, 17, has previously been abused by both of her parents. According to the report, the woman claimed that as part of an arranged marriage, her parents had threatened to push her to enter Iraq.
After reportedly being threatened by her father, the 17-year-old went to find support at the high school. But, witnesses reported that the parents attacked the woman and put her in a stranglehold. Ihsan Ali choked his child, according to court records,” to the point where she lost awareness.”
Before she lost consciousness as her father choked her, the 17-year-old told law enforcement that he had told her,” You are not supposed to do this,” and that she had told them,” It’s not right… you are not supposed to do this,” according to KOMO News.

Students and other spectators attempting to get the girl’s parents away from her while he choked her in a graphic video posted on X, originally Online. According to KOMO reports, the parents attempted to protect his daughter’s boyfriend by punching him in the face. Also, the outlet reported that Zahraa Ali was also seen choking her child during the event.
Josh Wagner, a testimony of the October tragedy, told KOMO News that he intervened, was able to relieve the girl from her husband’s hand, and was able to keep her father down until police officials arrived at the scene.
After escaping from her parents, the 17-year-old ran inside the university’s office and screamed,” My father was trying to kill me”. The class then initiated a lockdown, which prevented the child’s parents from entering the building.
KOMO News reported that Ihsan and Zahraa Ali now face charges of abuse, attempted kidnapping, and attempted crime for the attempted “honor killing” affair.
According to court papers obtained by KOMO News, Zarhaa Ali was formerly prohibited from attending college because of a distinct physical incident that occurred regularly with the Ali home. The 17-year-old is now protected while law enforcement is looking into her parents, according to the outlet.
