On Wednesday, House Republicans demanded an explanation for the supposedly flawed screening process that has allowed some adolescents to be sent to group people and even a ribbon team. Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra was unable to respond.
Becerra claimed that his organization performs “extensive” background checks that would prevent a child from being placed with someone who is “engaged in legal exercise” and that it adheres to” child welfare best practices.”
Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ ) asked Becerra about the possibility of children ending up with MS-13 gang members as sponsors.
” But if you do n’t do the vetting right, you do n’t know if they’re engaged in criminal activity. That’s how you end up with an MS-13 crew member as the partner”, the Arizona Republican said in the reading. ” Psychopaths get 20 children in the same house with that,” they say. The screening process is terrible. That’s the bottom line”.
The HHS director denied any awareness of this situation. According to a Senate research, two unaccompanied migrant children were living with a partner who had relations to a convicted legal MS-13 crew member, according to records from HHS, according to a report from the Washington Examiner in July.

In recent months, HHS reporters have made it clear that these children’s child donors are not vetted and screened properly.
Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX ) grilled the HHS secretary on Wednesday over the criminal investigations of the partners.
Do you conduct thorough criminal record checks on prospective donors of these children? the Texas senator asked on Wednesday.
” Well, yes, we follow baby best methods”, Becerra responded.
” Right, the answer’s nothing”? the Texas representative re-asked.
” It’s a yes, we follow child welfare best practices”, the secretary repeated.
” That’s not my question”, Roy said.
Roy criticized Becerra, noting that HHS does not check all potent partners ‘ criminal histories through FBI criminal background investigations. Additionally, according to the Texas Republican, there are more than 400,000 alone missing immigrant children.
