Donald Trump may select longtime ally Linda McMahon, who led the Small Business Administration during his first name, for education minister, the president-elect announced Tuesday.
In a speech, Trump said,” Linda may make America the first country in terms of education in the world, using her decades of leadership experience, as well as her strong knowledge of both business and education,” and “her ability to motivate the next generation of American students and employees.” ” We will deliver learning BACK TO THE STATES, and Linda does spike that work”.
According to Roll Call, Trump stated in his statement that he would work “untiltly” to “enable parents to make the best educational choices for their families” in his campaign.
McMahon chaired the America First Action political action committee, which played a significant role in Trump’s re-election plan.
” McMahon, 76, gained prominence as a powerful force in making World Wrestling Entertainment a multibillion-dollar enterprise before she led the Small Business Administration during Trump’s first term”, Politico reported.
Trump is a , representative of the WWE Hall of Fame.
According to Politico, McMahon was appointed to the Connecticut state board of education but resigned about a year later in 2010 after a failed bid for the Senate.
A student of East Carolina University, the channel added, she has “minimal learning experience, but is the board chair of the America First Policy Institute, a conservative think tank stocked with other Trump insiders, and she’d probably sail through her Senate confirmation”.
According to the Associated Press, McMahon has voiced interest in education:
McMahon spent a year as a member of the Connecticut Board of Education. She claimed to have had a lifelong interest in education and had once intended to work as a teacher, but that dream vanished after her marriage.
She also served for Sacred Heart University in Connecticut for many years on the board of trustees.
McMahon has endorsed charter schools and school choice, but in education circles she is viewed as largely unknown.
It’s not always easy to expect a job.
According to the New York Times,” McMahon is likely to be given the difficult task of carrying out what is widely anticipated to be a thorough and determined dismantling of the department’s core functions.” ” And she would assume the role at a time when school districts across the country are facing budget shortfalls, many students are  , not making up ground , lost during the pandemic , in reading and math, and many colleges and universities are  , shrinking and closing , amid a larger , loss of faith in the value of higher education”.
