Former US Congressman Pete Hoekstra has been nominated by Donald Trump as the country’s embassy to Canada.
” I am very pleased to announce that past Ambassador, and past Congressman, Pete Hoekstra, has been nominated as my United States Ambassador to Canada”, Trump said in a speech on Wednesday.
The speech continued,” Pete is well-respected in the Great State of Michigan- A Position we won modestly. He served as the chairman of the Michigan Republican Party and served as the leader of the House Intelligence Committee for almost 20 times.
In his second term, Trump claimed Hoekstra would help his” America second” plan. Pete will assist me in putting America initially once more in my next term. He performed exceptionally well during our first four centuries as the United States ambassador to the Netherlands, and I’m confident that he will remain to do so in this new capacity,” added the US president-elect.
Pete Hoekstra expressed his gratitude and said he was “honoured for the option” in a blog on X.
Before his inauguration in January 2025, Trump has been working hard to build his foreign policy and national security group. He won the presidential election in 2024 with 295 electoral votes, compared to Kamala Harris ‘ 225.
