President-elect Donald Trump will return to Washington, D. C., soon, and a handful of powerful people who are still there because the former president put them in their positions do n’t plan on leaving.
Jerome Powell, the head of the Federal Reserve
Powell is undoubtedly the most resolute of the number. When investigators recently questioned him about whether he would step down if Trump pressed him, Powell said in a one-word response,” No.”
When asked whether he believed the president had the legal authority to elicit his resignation from the Fed by firing him or degrading him, Powell added that his removal had become” not permitted by the law.”
