Officials of the University of Notre Dame’s soccer team have apologized for telling viewers not to use the color green, Shamrocks, the words” Fighting Irish”, and other pictures to its future game abroad in Belfast, Ireland.
The group had already created custom-designed uniforms for the game the following month that had the word” Irish” actually spread across the chest.
Fans who wish to show their support for the crew on its future trip to Northern Ireland should use caution when posting instructions on social media. The rules were never properly reviewed and should not have been posted“, reads the assertion, posted Nov. 19.
We apologize to fans and the citizens of Northern Ireland for any misunderstandings or offence because “our activity in Belfast is meant to bring people up and create roads through game.”
The X post’s counsel, which has since been deleted, was the subject of disagreement and criticism.

The team provided instructions and a “reminder to prevent our British symbolism, that may be deemed disrespectful by some, while out in town,” in the original article on the Notre Dame Hockey accounts on X.
The group cautioned fans against wearing something with shamrocks, leprechauns, or the British flag in an associated graphic.
Additionally, it advised fans to avoid dressing up as” Fighting Irish” or” Irish.”
Next week in Belfast, their ice hockey team may face Boston University, Harvard, and Merrimack College in the Friendship Four competition.
An Outkick reporter even made the comment that “if it’s such a problem, maybe do n’t pick a team called the Irish who are wearing special jerseys for the tournament that have the word” IRISH” right across the front.
