US President-elect Donald Trump has chosen lawyer Brooke Rollins to direct the department of agriculture, overseeing farming, food security, and diet plans.
Trump announced his decision in a statement, saying,” As our next Secretary of Agriculture, Brooke will spearhead the effort to protect American producers, who are really the foundation of our state”.
During his past term as president, Rollins was in charge of local scheme for Trump. Now, she is the leader of the America First Policy Institute, a think container preparing for next Trump presidency.
The USDA, which was established in 1862, is essential for supporting landowners and ensuring food security. The department also establishes guidelines for school lunches and manages diet programs for low-income people.
Rollins ‘ collection completes Trump’s department head choice. Tom Vilsack, who was in charge under President Joe Biden, may be replaced by Rollins.
Farmers are attentively watching Trump’s agrarian programs, as he has indicated potential popular tariffs. These tariffs, which he had in place before, caused China to impose punitive measures, which had an impact on US agricultural exports.
