Sara Duterte, evil president of the Philippines sparked a political row by claiming she had hired an assassin to kill President Ferdinand Marcos Jr, his wife Liza Araneta-Marcos, and house speaker Martin Romualdez if she were ever assassinated. Duterte made the statement on Saturday, insisting it was not a joke, prompting swift action from security forces. Philippine’s security council described it as a “matter of national security”.
In a press conference, Duterte accused Marcos of being “incompetent” and called his wife and Romualdez as crooked. She alleged a plot against her career and said,” I’ve given my buy,’ If I die, do n’t stop until you’ve killed them.'”
Duterte after attempted to explain her statement, claiming that it was based on concerns about potential hazards to her own life. ” If I expressed the problem, they may say that’s a danger to the existence of the leader? If not to retaliate from the tomb, why did I kill him? I should shoot him without any justification. What’s the advantage for me”? she told investigators.
When questioned about her safety, the 46-year-old vice president said,” Do n’t worry about my security because I’ve spoken with someone. I said,’ If I’m killed, you’ll eliminate BBM, Liza Araneta, and Martin Romualdez. No prank, no prank,'” she said, referring to the leader by his frequently used initials.
Law enforcement was on hand to address possible threats, and Marcos and his family were secured.
Duterte’s remarks came after the confinement of her chief of staff, Zuleika Lopez, by allies of Romualdez. Lopez, accused of interfering in a parliamentary investigation into Duterte’s resources, was hospitalised after falling poor amid plans to move her to a women’s prison.
Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin urged the National Security Command to investigate the controversy and described Duterte’s remarks as an “active risk.”
Such statements could be viewed as criminal threats, with possible jail time as a result, under Asian law. In addition, the Constitution specifies that the vice president can step down.
General Romeo Brawner, the military’s commander, assured the public that the government did maintain its neutrality.
