A gentleman from Honduras is accused of rape after allegedly assaulting a woman on a well-known hiking path in Herndon, Virginia. This is the town’s first person murder in more than ten years, according to police.
Denis Humberto Navarette Romero, 31, has been arrested and charged with intention to destroy and murder, according to the Herndon police office. According to a New York Post report citing officers, the victim, who did not know Romero, was allegedly assaulted on Washington and Old Dominion Trail when he allegedly grabbed her arm, forced her to the floor, and assaulted her.
This is the only person murder we’ve seen in the area in my more than 12 years as police chief, according to Herndon Police Chief Maggie DeBoard, as reported by the New York Post.
Before being arrested on murder charges, Romero, formerly from Honduras, a country in Central America, was released from jail on November 14 after serving half of a 50-day word for indecent coverage.

Governor of Virginia Glenn Youngkin criticized Romero’s illegal entry into the US. He claimed for The Post,” I’m heartbroken for this victim and offended that Fairfax County officials hurriedly released harsh illegal immigrants who needed to be deported and prosecuted.”
Youngkin continued,” This is a violation of their most fundamental duty to ensure the safety of the public.” It is unacceptable to prioritize violent illegal immigrants over Fairfax people ‘ protection, underscoring Virginia’s status as a sanctuary condition.
