Federal and local authorities are investigating several drones seen flying over , Morris County , on Monday evening.
” There is no known threat to public safety”, according to a joint statement released by the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office.
Authorities were unable to disclose who was operating the robots ‘ whereabouts.
” The Morris County Prosecutor’s Office, Morris County Sheriff’s Office,  , Morris County Office of Emergency Management,  , Morris County , metropolitan police agencies, along with our federal and state law enforcement partners, are aware of this exercise, and will continue to arrange, monitor and evaluate the helicopter activity”, the statement said.
” This mutual declaration is being issued in response to stories about the spread of aircraft engagement on social media. We advise readers to be aware that what they read electronically may not be true.
Picatinny Arsenal, a military base in , Wharton, said the robots are not own and they are assisting in the research.
” Picatinny Arsenal authorities are aware of the numerous reports of unmanned aerial vehicle ( UAV ) activity over , Morris County , and its surrounding areas on ( Monday ) evening”, the military base said in a statement emailed to , NJ Advance Media. To obtain more details about the reported action, we are collaborating with several of our state, local, and national partners. We remind people that it is immoral to sail UAVs over , Picatinny Arsenal , and any other national military installation without previous authorization”.
State Police , and the , Federal Aviation Administration , had n’t responded to NJ Advance Media’s morning request for information as of Tuesday afternoon.
