The rise in violence against women was mostly attributable to more information coming out of places than to more deaths, according to a report from the day before the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.
However, the two organizations emphasized that” no area is excluded because this extreme form of gender-based murder still affects women and girls everywhere.” And they correctly observed that “girls and people are at risk in their homes.”
According to the report, Africa had the highest number of romantic spouse and family deaths, with an estimated 21,700 victims in 2023. In addition to its population, Africa had the highest rate of patients per 100 000 persons, with 2.9 per cent.

According to the report, personal colleagues are mostly responsible for the intentional killing of people in the private realm in Europe and the Americas.
By comparison, the vast majority of adult deaths take spot outside homes and families, it said.
Women and girls continue to be overwhelmingly affected by devastating crime in the private sphere, according to the report, despite the fact that the majority of homicide victims are men and boys.
” An estimated 80 % of all homicide victims in 2023 were men while 20 % were women, but lethal violence within the family takes a much higher toll on women than men, with almost 60 % of all women who were intentionally killed in 2023 being victims of intimate partner/family member homicide”, it said.
According to the report, there are still “alarmingly great levels” of women and girls ‘ murders despite international efforts to stop them from being committed.
” They are often the climax of repeated bouts of gender-based crime, which means they are preventable through proper and effective treatments”, the two authorities said.
