A driver in New Jersey discovered that the supposed meals delivery was really an ounce of marijuana posing as a burrito, which caused an unexpected turn for the company’s routine delivery.
Washington Township Police are now looking into the affair.
The Uber Eats pilot had picked up the package on Friday evening in Lindenwold, Camden County, believing it contained a normal meal of a burrito, dish, and water jug.
But, as she drove towards Glassboro, she noticed a strong, unmistakable taste emanating from the case. ” She believed something did n’t smell right with her delivery package. According to 6abc, she believed it had a marijuana-like odor, according to Washington Township police captain Patrick Gurcsik.
Acting on her fear, the driver pulled through and contacted the government.
Upon inspection, officers discovered that the tin-foil-wrapped object was not meals but rather a huge zip-closed handbag of fresh marijuana. ” There was no flesh, or cabbage or beans or corn. It was really an iota of marijuana”, Gurcsik explained, according to the New York Post.
The medicines were poorly packaged in food-like packaging in pictures shared by the police. Authorities suspect the culprits may have used Uber’s offer delivery element, which is strictly prohibited from transporting illegal substances, drinking, or treatment.
An Uber spokesperson called the incident “deeply troubling” and commended the vehicle for contacting regional government, urging other owners to report any suspicious sales. Since then, Washington Township Police have opened a search to find out where the medicines came from.
This is n’t the first time such an incident has occurred. Another Uber drivers reported being asked to deliver phony gift cards over the summer, indicating a growing trend of using delivery services for illegal purposes. Officials are advising customers using delivery services to be diligent even though they have not yet filed claims in the case.
