On the eve of Wednesday’s regional elections, the opposition party in Tanzania claimed two of its people had been killed and accused the elections of being rigged.
Chadema said in a statement that a prospect, George Juma Mohamed, was shot dead by ruling party followers in his home late Tuesday, while a regional party president, Steven Chalamila, was killed in a chopper attack.
The group also detailed abnormalities in election in seven districts, including ballot-stuffing.
