KHYBER PAKHTUNKHWA: Three more people were killed in the Kurram city of Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, taking the death toll from the week-long occasional violence to 76, Dawn reported.
The latest mortality occurred in reprisal problems that followed a dangerous invasion on Thursday, in which around 40 passengers travelling in a caravan were killed in the Mandori Charkhel region of Lower Kurram city.
Only two days after the invasion, another 21 people were killed in fire and firefights in Bagan town, even in Lower Kurram.
Despite a ceasefire brokered by government on Sunday, occasional battle has persisted. Authorities reported that conflicts resumed on Tuesday in places like Ghozaghari, Matasanagar, and Kunj Alizai, resulting in three more murders and six injury.
Dawn reported, citing officers, that three gunship planes were targeted by the scoundrels entrenched in Chardeval and Jalmay settlements in the Alizai region of Lower Kurram. But, no deaths have been reported so much.
The regional authorities are trying to resolve the escalating issue. Kurram Deputy Commissioner Javedullah Mehsud revealed that a great dispute, comprising mothers from Hangu, Orakzai, and Kohat towns, may be dispatched to the violence-hit area to help stop the conflicts. The dispute may become led by the Kohat department commissioner.
However, the continued violence has even led to a critical shortage of drugs in the region. Mir Hassan Khan, the medical director at the city office doctor, said that the closure of roads leading to Parachinar has greatly impacted health supply chains, as reported by Dawn.
” It is becoming hard for doctors to treat injured people due to the lack of drugs, and people are losing their life,” he said.
Local adult Mahmood Khan, from the Hamzakhel town, even expressed disappointment at the provincial authorities, accusing top officials of abandoning the region after brokering the peace on Sunday. He criticised the government’s failure to adequately address the escalating violence, Dawn reported.
As authorities attempt to restore peace, tensions remain high as both sides continue to clash, with the civilian population caught in the crossfire.
