US President-elect Donald Trump made some key announcements on Tuesday evening, unveiling his picks for key positions within his leadership. Trump has chosen businessman John Phelan to direct the US Navy, economics professor Kevin Hassett to guide the country’s economic council, and speechwriter Vince Haley to lead the home policy council, among others. When Trump takes office as leader on January 20, these sessions will become effective.
John Phelan
John Phelan has been chosen as the next Secretary of the Navy by Trump. Phelan, who has no previous military knowledge, is best known for leading the private investment firm Rugger Management and for his role in managing Michael Dell’s opportunities. Despite his lack of military history, Trump expressed trust in Phelan’s ability to lead the Navy. John Phelan will be the next US Secretary of the Navy, which is my excellent honor! Trump stated on his Truth social media account that John will be a great power for the sailors in our country and a steadfast supporter of my America First mission.
Pete Hegseth, a veteran of the Army National Guard, was previously appointed secretary of defense, and Trump’s decision came as a result. Phelan, a substantial donation to Trump’s plan, hosted the president-elect at his Alpine home this summer, where they discussed problems like emigration. Phelan’s choice comes after a number of interviews at Mar-a-Lago, and while another military veterans were rumored for the part, it seems that his leadership skills stood up.
Kevin Hassett
The National Economic Council ( NEC ) will be led by Kevin Hassett, a seasoned economist with a long history of providing advice to Republican leaders. Hassett previously held the position of CEE ( WHO ) Chair, which placed him at the center of Trump’s economic policy from 2017 to 2019. Trump praised Hassett’s knowledge and experience, saying,” Kevin has a beautiful head for finance and may continue to drive forward the laws that have made our business stronger”.
Hassett is a distinguished fellow at Stanford University’s Hoover Institution and the Milken Institute’s managing producer. His previous job includes advising some Democratic presidential campaigns, including those of John McCain, George W. Bush, and Mitt Romney. Hassett’s resumption of office comes with the promise of putting an emphasis on addressing long-term poverty and developing monetary plans that help the citizens of America.
Vince Haley
Vince Haley, a key speechwriter during Trump’s first term, has been tapped to lead the Domestic Policy Council ( DPC ), which plays a central role in developing and implementing the president’s domestic policies. In an announcement on TruthSocial, Trump praised Haley’s eloquence and policy skills, saying,” Vince may help make life better for ALL Americans, and integrate our Country through SUCCESS”. Haley will be in charge of developing policies to promote economic growth, secure the southern border, and reduce inflation as Director of the DPC.
Haley, an attorney by training, has a close relationship with Trump’s senior advisor Stephen Miller, whom Trump appointed to serve as deputy chief of staff for policy. Haley is regarded as a powerful figure within conservative circles thanks to his close ties to former House Speaker Newt Gingrich. He is regarded as a skilled policy strategist due to his contributions to the speechwriting department during the first term and his work on crucial policy issues.
Vision for Trump’s second term
With figures like Phelan, Hassett, and Haley, Trump aims to reinforce his America First agenda and steer the US Navy, economic policy, and domestic issues in a direction that he believes will benefit the American people. These choices also underline Trump’s desire to rely on reliable allies with solid policy backgrounds while maintaining his focus on disruptors and unconventional leaders who seek to challenge the status quo.
