A recent study by the Network Contagion Research Institute (NCRI ) has revealed that certain Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion ( DEI ) workshops focusing on caste and race narratives have proven to be counterproductive. The research, titled Instructing Animosity, stressed how these seminars is foster “otherization” and develop social units, intensifying participants ‘ racist perceptions and contributing to magnetization.
The results have prompted the advocacy group CasteFiles to demand more unbiased and egalitarian personality debates that avoid conflicting language. The results of the NCRI review “give us a lot of satisfaction and validation.” According to Richa Gautam, creator of CasteFiles, it furthers our goal to promote sophisticated and complex discussions of identification that are completely from the divisive language and” Hostile Attribution Bias” identified by NCRI during these training sessions.
Abhijit Bagal, the legal director of CasteFiles, criticized the media for ignoring the NCRI research and boosting biased DEI claims. Additionally, he charged shops with obstructing caste-focused narratives with supporting evidence-based claims, such as Cisco’s decision to dismiss a caste-based discrimination lawsuit brought by two Hindu American managers.
The mainstream media’s coverage of the NCRI study, which rather amplify one-sided DEI stories, is even more troubling, he said.
The team also highlighted their leak system, CasteGate. nonprofit, which has questioned internet handling of high-profile instances. Gautam said that despite being dismissed, “media outlets continued to treat unfounded allegations as facts while ignoring the evidence presented by exploratory platforms like ours.”
In response to the civil rights act of 1964, CasteFiles filed lawsuits against colleges that implemented caste-focused education and policies. A new complaint against Rutgers University asserts that race narratives have failed to address discrimination against Indian-American learners.
Evaluating educational ideas, Bagal questioned the continuity of Rutgers Chairperson Audrey Truschke’s posts on race. ” In her earlier report, Truschke labeled race as synonymous with Hindu dharma, but presently describes it as a worldwide social phenomenon. He said that this inconsistent language highlights the lack of transparency in like language.
A detailed review of DEI workshops is needed to ensure that inclusion is promoted without perpetuating partiality or backward narratives, according to CasteFiles.
